For Anthony Hightower, Huntington's disease has always been a part of life. Born in Gary, Indiana to a mother and grandfather with Huntington's disease, "Tony" always knew what struggles he might face in a life with HD, but he took that knowledge and translated it into a positive energy that has been celebrated within the HD community.
In 2009, Tony was named The Minnesota HD Person of the Year, and for those who have had the pleasure of spending time with Tony, the award comes as no surprise. Tony hasn't let Huntington's disease slow him down. He participates in the HDSA Run 2 Rid 5K Walk/Run to shed light on HD and raise money for a cure. An avid musician, he plays music in "JugBusters," a local jug band, and enjoys performing in musicals. His positive energy has been an inspiration to the community and everyone at the Good Samaritan Society - Specialty Care Community, and we're proud to have him call our center home.
